October 1996,

As we approached the car parked on the side of Debusk Road, someone threw out three kittens in front of our car....and then sped away.

We stopped traffic and gathered the kittens into our car and took the runny-eyes, crying sisters to Kent's office....

There they stayed for several weeks, but soon it was apparent that the gray tabby would not be offered for adoption.  The “most lively one” of the kitten family , she soon captured Kent's heart.  She was a “character” and we named her Jezzie....from Jezabel!

Jezzie might jump on Kent's head; go running across the conference table during an important meeting; visit all the offices down the hall...so soon it was time  for her to move to our home.

She was a most curious cat.  Climbing into drawers, hiding under chairs, sleeping in gift bags...finding Jezzie was an adventure.  How many times have I stook in the dark with a flashlight pointed on Jezzie on the roof of our house...afraid I could not find her until she decided to come into the house.  Age mellowed her, but not her love of life and sense of curiosity.

Whether we had been gone an hour or a week, Jezzie was waiting at the door or window to welcome us home.

So many have made the comment about how “lucky” Jezzie was to have been rescued by us.  She has brought such companionship, comfort, fun, adventure, loyalty and love to us for sixteen years.

We were the “lucky”ones!
